Can you feel it in the air? It’s college football season! Break out the jackets for the crisp autumn air, tune in to ESPN Gameday and grab a beer! After a hype-filled summer that seemed to last forever, the first weekend kicks off tomorrow. Here are my predictions for the top three games of the weekend:
#5 Alabama at #7 VA Tech: Who gives a shit! It’s not the Big 12 and there are two bigger fish to fry this weekend (Sooners and Cowboys). Tech by 3 with the home field advantage.
#20 BYU at #3 Oklahoma: The first official football game (not counting NFL preseason) to be played at Jerry Jones Land, the new home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, TX. What a great opening opponent for the Sooners! Although the Sooners will be without all world tight end Jermaine Gresham, I expect them to roll to an easy victory. Sooners clobber Brigham Young by 21 points.
#13 Georgia at #9 Oklahoma State: The game Cowboy fans have been drooling over all summer, myself included. It’s a chance for OSU to prove their highest preseason ranking in school history is deserved. It would also be nice to avenge the loss the Pokes suffered at the hands of Georgia in 2007. There are a lot of questions I have about this Cowboy team. Will the offense be as prolific as last season? Most likely. Will the defense improve enough to earn the Cowboys a spot at the Big12 Championship game? I wish I could say “yes” but it’s doubtful. Is Mike Gundy still a man? I’ll save my Big12 predictions for another day. Cowboys slug out a tight game against the Dawgs and win by 7 points, getting help from an unruly crowd at the newly remodeled Boone Pickens Stadium!
*Please note, it's not necessary for all my Sooner friends to send me a text that reads "BOOMER" everytime a game starts or everytime the Sooners score a touchdown! I AM AN OKLAHOMA STATE FAN!
